Expert Footscan Pressure Analysis at Celtic Podiatry
At Celtic Podiatry, we use industry-leading pressure measurement technology for clinical gait and movement analysis, with the optional integration of Phits 3D-printed orthotics.
As part of the Gait and Motion Clinics (GMC) network — the UK’s largest provider of Footscan technology and Phits 3D-printed orthotics — we are proud to offer some of the most advanced gait and biomechanical assessment systems available.
With over 500 specialist clinics across the UK, Ireland, and UAE, GMC leads the way in innovative gait and movement analysis to help reduce injury risk, support rehabilitation, and improve performance.
Trusted by British Marathon Champions, Team GB athletes, and Premier League football players, this technology supports patients of all ages and activity levels — whether you are competing at elite level or simply want to walk pain free.

What We Treat
- Foot posture and biomechanics
- Walking and gait patterns
- Pressure distribution across the feet
- Heel pain and plantar fasciitis
- Sports-related movement concerns
- Overpronation and foot instability
- Areas of high pressure or overload
- Balance and movement efficiency
- Lower limb alignment concerns
- Pain associated with standing, walking, or activity
How We Use Footscan Technology
At Celtic Podiatry, Footscan gait analysis uses high-speed pressure plates to map the dynamic forces passing through your feet whilst walking or running.
This advanced technology captures real-time data to help identify:
- Imbalances and abnormal movement patterns
- Areas of excessive pressure or overload
- Biomechanical abnormalities
- Gait inefficiencies contributing to pain or injury
- Movement patterns affecting performance and recovery
Footscan analysis often serves as the blueprint for creating custom 3D-printed orthotics, including Phits orthotics, allowing for highly personalised treatment and support.

What to Expect
Initial Consultation
Our expert clinicians will take a detailed medical and injury history, followed by a clinical examination to assess strength, mobility, and joint flexibility.
Footscan Analysis
You will then complete a footscan® assessment to analyse your standing posture, balance, and gait, helping to identify any asymmetries or biomechanical abnormalities.
How the Process Works
Dynamic Measurement
You walk or run across a specialised pressure plate embedded with thousands of micro-sensors.
Data Capture
The system records exactly how your body weight distributes through each phase of your foot strike — from initial heel contact, through the midfoot, and into toe-off.
Biomechanics Analysis
Advanced software translates the data into highly accurate 2D and 3D visual maps. This allows our podiatrists to assess peak pressures, balance, postural sway, and timing, helping to identify issues often invisible to the naked eye.
Phits Insole Design
Your clinician will talk you through the results of your footscan® analysis and discuss the most suitable treatment pathway for your needs. This may include the design and prescription of customised Phits 3D-printed orthotics.
3D Print Manufacturing
If prescribed, your Phits orthotics will be 3D printed to your exact specifications using the dynamic data collected during your footscan® assessment.
Enjoy Your Next Steps
Following a final quality check, you will return to the clinic within a couple of weeks for fitting of your new orthotics — designed to provide optimal balance, comfort, and support with every step.
Common Applications
Injury Prevention
Footscan analysis helps pinpoint biomechanical flaws that may place excessive stress on the feet, joints, knees, hips, and lower back.
Orthotic Prescription
The data collected is frequently used to help design custom-shaped 3D-printed orthotics, including Phits orthotics, to optimise movement, improve support, and help alleviate pain.
Sports Performance
Footscan technology can assess weight loading, balance, and stability during functional movements such as squatting, jumping, running, or even a golf swing.
